Billii LLC ("Billii", "we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our household bill-splitting application and related services.
By using Billii, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our services.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account Information: Name, email address, and password when you create an account
- Profile Information: Profile picture, phone number (optional), and display preferences
- Household Data: Household names, member information, and household settings you create
- Bill Information: Bill details including amounts, descriptions, due dates, categories, and split configurations
- Payment Information: Payment records, transaction history, and payment method preferences
- Communications: Messages you send through our support channels
Information Collected Automatically
- Device Information: Browser type, operating system, and device identifiers
- Usage Data: Features used, actions taken, and time spent in the app
- Log Data: IP address, access times, and pages viewed
- Cookies: Session cookies and preferences (see our Cookie Policy)
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve our bill-splitting services
- Create and manage your account and households
- Process and track bill payments and splits
- Send notifications about bills, payments, and household activity
- Respond to your comments, questions, and support requests
- Send you technical notices, updates, and administrative messages
- Monitor and analyze usage trends to improve user experience
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud and security issues
- Comply with legal obligations
Payment Processing
We use Stripe as our payment processor. When you make payments through Billii:
- Your payment card details are collected and processed directly by Stripe
- We do not store your full credit card numbers on our servers
- We receive limited payment information from Stripe (last 4 digits, card type, expiration)
- Stripe's collection and use of your data is governed by their Privacy Policy
For users who enable Stripe Connect to receive payments, additional information may be collected by Stripe for identity verification and fraud prevention purposes.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a trusted cloud database provider. We implement:
- Encryption in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest
- Row-level security policies to ensure data isolation
- Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
- Secure authentication with password hashing
- Access controls limiting employee access to user data
While we strive to protect your personal information, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following situations:
- With Household Members: Your name, profile picture, and bill/payment activity are visible to members of your households
- Service Providers: We share data with trusted third parties who assist in operating our service (Supabase, Stripe, Resend for emails)
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information when required by law or to protect our rights
- Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets
- With Your Consent: When you explicitly agree to share information
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information in your account settings
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and personal data (see Account Deletion below)
- Portability: Request your data in a portable format
- Opt-out: Unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time
- Restrict Processing: Request that we limit how we use your data

Account Deletion
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Security → Delete Account. When you delete your account:
- Your personal information (name, email, phone) is anonymized or deleted
- Your profile and account access are permanently removed
- You are removed from all households
- Your Stripe customer data and payment methods are deleted
- Active subscriptions are cancelled
- Historical bill and payment records are anonymized to preserve household history for other members
Note: If you are the sole admin of a household, you must transfer admin rights to another member before deleting your account.
Communications
We may send you:
- Transactional Emails: Bill reminders, payment confirmations, household invitations (required for service operation)
- Service Updates: Important changes to our terms or features
- Marketing: Tips, product updates, and promotional content (you can opt-out anytime)
Manage your notification preferences in Settings → Notifications.
Children's Privacy
Billii is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we learn we have collected data from a child under 18, we will delete that information promptly.
International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. By using Billii, you consent to your information being transferred to facilities outside your country of residence.
California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act:
- Right to know what personal information we collect and how it's used
- Right to request deletion of your personal information
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights
- Right to opt-out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell your data)
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. For significant changes, we will provide additional notice via email or in-app notification.
